Isn’t it weird how one small deed can mean a lot to someone else?
So today at work I was a ‘service host’ which means ensuring everything runs smoothly, and inside the shop it was horribly warm. I am talking hot hot. So I asked a fellow colleague if I could go upstairs to grab my wallet to purchase some water. So I come back down and it’s busy as hell, hot and busy does not go well together! So on my way to purchase said water i had the idea to buy a few bottles and give them out to the people on checkouts who can’t move off their post.
To me this wasn’t a big deal. These are friends who probably felt the same dry throat I did so at the time it didn’t feel like I was doing much. But then for the rest of the night people just kept coming up to me and thanking me for the water and saying it’s the nicest thing anyone has done for them, and inside all I could think is I haven’t done anything too nice, just gave people a simple bottle of water.
And then someone came up to me, probably realising what I was thinking and said ‘it’s not the amount you’ve done, it’s just the fact you thought about them’ and that sentence will stay with me for a very long time!
